A Request for a Crown Empty A Request for a Crown

Post by Arcaydea Tue Mar 15, 2016 3:28 pm

Greetings to the mighty and just order that is the Hole See. I, Charles I, do humbly request for a royal kingship for myself and my descendants. The reasons for this are:

I. Though we are a reltiavely small duchy, we are the only organized power in les terrains Francais, and therefore, we have the opportunity to, with the legitimacy of a crown, lead the region and its people to greater security through hegemony.

II. I myself, as well as my family, are staunch supporters of the holy catholic church, and a crown would give us much more far reaching influence over religious affairs in our region of Europe, which means more holy men to keep the masses catholic.

III. Though we are the only power in the French region, we do face threats from the North, being so close to the many warring British states. If one were to look southward, it would be much less appealing to attempt to dethrone a sitting monarch than a jumped up duke.

Thank you for your consideration, and I eagerly await your response.

Cardinal Federico Iannuzzi: "Peasants, dukes, kings, and even popes may be killed with equal ease. This is not a reason to be granted a crown. However, I must agree with your first point. The second point raises an important question, in my mind. How do we convince an increasingly chaotic world to adhere to the One True Faith? I have been mulling this question for a while, with no answer. But the answer couldnt be more simple! As you, so eloquently state, we need 'more holy men'. To this end Cardinal Nascimbeni and I are in agreement. We will vote in favor of your request if Your Highness allows Calabrese holy men to establish Canons Regular within Arcaydean borders for the purposes of giving stability to what I can only infer by your words to be an un-ruly and un-Catholic people."

Cardinal Bakocz:

What would convince me is the third point. Indeed, Britannia faces many threats lately, heathen saxons, danes, and northmen invading the island. What could You do, against this threat?

Would you defend your northern borders, or would you be willing to take part in a campaign to liberate Britannia?

Cardinal Bakocz:

A plea for help had just arrived from Britannia, calling for aid against the heathen invaders. Would you be ready to answer the call to arms if His Holiness, and the Catholic Church, decide that it's time to take up arms against them?
