Cybelos Kingdom request

I, Lord Alexander Caernwell do herein declare myself King Alexander, First of his name, with the blessings of the majority of the houses of Cybelos, and hopefully, God willing, the Papacy.


I have had this declaration written and sent to the Archbasilica in Rome with the hope that his holiness, Pope Leo, and their graces, the Cardinals recognise the righteous intentions of this tentative Kingdom.

Your request for a kingdom has been noted. Now, the College of Cardinals shall come together to discuss and vote about this matter.

The Kingdom of Saudi Babylonia, recognising King Alexander's authority and the Kingdom of Cybelos' status, as dictated by our lawful Cardinal and national representative in the Catholic Church: Ulam-khala, hereby votes in favour of this formal acknowledgement on behalf of the Church and College of Cardinals.

Cardinal Ulam-khala has announced he is undecided on this proposition as of now is willing to adjust his position based on the impending discussion.

Cardinal Johannes is against this proposal. It is not that we are against your papacy, your Holiness. It is just that we need more time. Pope Leo VII has JUST taken papacy. Give him more time, and I am fully for your proposal.

His Emminence Cardinal Léxonnois was more conservative than some of his colleagues, but in a true Béziquienne faction he was more practically conservative than dogmatic conservative. Bézique was a land which maintained its power through manipulation not through the strictest adherence, but on matters of faith they utilized their piety like a sword.

As for the proposal, I am still pending.

By God's grace, the pope shall approve the claim for the Kingdom, under these terms:

The King of Cybelos shall cede his right of investiture to the Pope.
The King of Cybelos shall allow the monasteries and bishops of his Kingdom to pay their support towards thw church directly.
No heathens shall gain rank of nobility or knighthood in the Kingdom of Cybelos.

Under these terms, the Papacy shall support the claim for a Crown.

We will accept this offer once we know the full extent of our forfeit of investiture.

Will the king have to send a formal request to Rome for every appointment he makes or is this limited to future coronations?

Papal investiture would mean that the King must send a list of his choices for who will be the future bishop of his realm, and the Pope must select from the nominants.

Very well, we graciously accept the papacy's offer for a crown.

King Alexander, Lord of the Aegean has told me to inform his Excellency that ships have be dispatched to Rome and will be in the waters of the Tyrrhenian by the time this letter reaches you.

These ships contain gifts of gold as well as paintings and sculptures by the masters of the ancient world and many wonderful works from the modern ages intended for your Excellency.

The one week period for the Holy See to discuss the Kingdom request of Cybelos is over.

Overall, there are four votes in favour, two, who did not vote and two votes against. Therefore, the final verdict is:

With 2:1 rate of in favour and against votes, the Cybelos Kingdom Request has passed.

Let it be known that the ruler of Cybelos, Alexander, Lord of the Aegean, shall be from now on Alexander I, King of the Aegean, King of Cybelos. A royal crown has been granted for his dynasty, as long as they remain loyal to God and God's only true Church, and he shall keep the heathens away from corrupting his kingdom. Let the world rejoice! Amen!
